About macon Missouri

We are excited for the opportunity to show off our fantastic community and are sure your time in Macon will be enjoyable. If you are here on business, relocating, visiting, or just passing through, we have something for you. Macon is located in northeast Missouri at the crossroads of Highway 36 (east and west) and Highway 63 (north and south).

We focus on family values as we continue to invest in all aspects of our community. We support our children with excellent educational opportunities through public, private, and parochial schools. Our Macon Career Center provides advanced education to many area students as well as our major colleges and universities are within close proximity. To our south you will find the University of Missouri, Columbia College, Moberly Area Community College, and Central Christian College of the Bible. To the east is Culver Stockton College and Hannibal-LaGrange University, and Truman State University is to the north.

We are very fortunate to have quality health care in the area, our hospital, health care clinics, vision care, dental care, skilled nursing facilities, and numerous area physicians specializing in various fields.

You don’t have to leave town to enjoy a wonderful meal; Macon has an incredible selection of restaurants, from fine and casual dining to fast food drive-through.

Our recreational facilities are second to none with abundant deer and turkey can test your hunting skills. You can enjoy boating and fishing in our area lakes, as well as watching the kids play in one of the many city parks. The area also celebrates many events throughout the year. You can enjoy the Annual Flywheel and Collectible Show, The Best of the Best Demolition Derby, and the Fork and Cork Festival and Run. There are many other fairs and concerts held throughout the year at the Macon County Park. If you enjoy the fine arts, come and visit the Maples Repertory Theatre and the Annual Boots and Black Tie Event. You can sit back and enjoy an evening of live, big-city entertainment. A variety of shows are presented year-round.

Serving all of Macon County, the Chamber is conveniently located in the historic Downtown area at 102 Vine Street. We’ve only touched on a few of the things that make Macon such a wonderful place to live and visit. We are positive that once you are here, you will want to stay.
